- ESLAN is not a CRICOS-registered English Language provider and thus enrolments in ESLAN English courses cannot lead to the issuing of a COE (Confirmation of Enrolment) which is an essential requirement for an overseas student intending to apply for a Student Visa to study in Australia.
- ESLAN does not provide pathways into courses, programs, degrees offered by CRICOS-registered providers, nor does it promise that its Certificate of Attainment will be recognized by any educational or non-educational institutions in or outside Australia.
- All ESLAN’s EFL (English) Teachers (Teachers) hold at least a TESOL or CELTA certificate or equivalent and have a minimum of 2 years of experience in teaching English to learners of English as a foreign language (EFL) or learners of English as a second language (ESL).
- Most ESLAN’s micro-credentials consist of 10 hours of one-on-one teaching via Zoom.
- Students must complete each enrolment (per micro-credential) within 20 business days. Should the students require a longer period to complete their enrolment, they must discuss and obtain a written consent from the Teacher. Students must then forward the Teacher’s written consent to ESLAN Director.
Fees
- The fees for micro-credentials vary depending on the Teachers’ hourly rate which varies based on the Teacher’s qualifications and industry experience. The Teacher’s hourly rate is stated in the Teacher’s profile on ESLAN’s website.
- A non-refundable one-off Administration fee of US$80 is charged upon the first 10-hour course. The one-off Administration fee of US$80 includes the pre-enrolment initial English Language Assessment written or oral.
Refunds
- Students who request the cancelation of an enrolment at least 2 business days prior to the commencement of an enrolment receive a 100% refund (One-off Administration fee NOT included).
- Fees for lessons which the students fail to complete within 20 business days are non-refundable.
- Fees for lessons remaining after the completion of the 2nd hour of teaching are non-refundable.
- Students who request the cancelation of an enrolment after the completion of the 1st hour of teaching only pay for that 1st hour and receive refund of the fees for the remainder of the course. The cost of the 1st hour is the Teacher’s hourly rate.
- Cancelation and refund requests must be made in writing to ESLAN Director at patrick.hayeck@eslan.com.au.
Initial English Language Assessment (ELA) Procedure
- After enrolment and before lessons begin, all students are required to complete an initial English Language Assessment (ELA). The initial English Language Assessment (ELA) is both written and oral. The written part is available on ESLAN’s website at: https://www.eslan.com.au/test-your-english/. The oral test/interview is a 15-30-minute interview with ESLAN’s Director or an ESLAN teacher. Children under the age of 12 years old are not required to complete the written test, but the 15-30-minute interview is still required not only to assess the student’s English level but also to discuss the ELA report as well as the students’ needs and plans.
- Students must at least pay the Administration fee before sitting the English Language Assessment (ELA), but they may pay the Administration fee as well as the course fees together if they choose so.
- Upon receiving a payment (minimum the Administration fee), ESLAN creates a user account for the student and forwards the login details to the student at an email of their choosing.
- Students must reset their passwords upon their first login attempt by following the instructions sent to them by ESLAN.
Behavior and attendance
- Students must remain well-mannered and behaved with the Teacher all the time and thus refrain from the use of abusive or offensive language at all time.
- Teachers who deem the students’ behavior or conduct offensive reserve the right to terminate the lesson immediately and without warning.
- Students who deem the Teachers’ behavior or conduct offensive may also terminate the lesson immediately and without warning. If such situation arises, the students may write to ESLAN Director at patrick.hayeck@eslan.com.au to explain the incident and request another Teacher. If ESLAN is unable to provide a Teacher and after investigation finds the student’s account to be true, ESLAN will refund fees for the remainder of the course.
- Students unable to attend an already scheduled lesson must notify the Teacher in writing or by phone at least 24 hours before the lesson.
- Teachers unable to attend an already scheduled lesson must notify the Student in writing or by phone at least 24 hours before the lesson. Teachers must grant the student an extension of 5 business days (after the expiry of the 20 business days) for each lesson they elect to postpone. Students are however entitled to seek a refund for that lesson if they decline the 5-business-day extension.
- Students must successfully complete 80% of the course’s activities and assessments in order to be awarded with ESLAN’s Certificate of Attainment.
- If unsuccessful at the end of the course, students may ask the Teacher to advise of a strategy that enables them to complete the course successfully. The Teacher’s strategy may consist of extra hours, extra work etc. The Teacher may choose to charge for the extra hours.
