5 Crazy-A Ways to Beat English and Finally Get Fluent

Hey there, ESLAN Fan!
Are you sick of translating from your first language word by word every time you speak English? Tired of feeling stuck, slow, or scared to open your mouth? I get it. I’ve been there—and it sucks.

I know exactly what it feels like to be lost in conversation, to not understand what’s being said, and to feel like you’ll never catch up. But I beat it. And so can you.

Let me share with you 5 crazy-ass things I did—and what you can do—to break through that wall and finally speak English with confidence.

🧠 1. One Book. One Mission.

Pick one big fat novel in English. Just one.

Now here’s the rule: read it over and over again for six months straight. Don’t touch newspapers. Forget online articles. Burn your textbooks if you have to. Stick with that one book—and keep a dictionary right next to you.

Every difficult word, phrase, or sentence? Look it up. Break it down. Own it.

Treat that book like it’s your personal holy text—your Bible or Qur’an. And if you even think about quitting, let the shame of giving up fuel you. This is a test of character, not just language.

🎧 2. One Rap Song. Total Obsession.

Find one fast rap song in English. That’s your music for the next 3 months.

Don’t listen to anything else. Play it over and over. Read the lyrics while listening. Analyze every syllable, every sound, every weird pronunciation. Why? Because English spelling and English sounds are two different beasts—and this is how you tame them.

👄 3. Follow the Rapper. Fail. Repeat.

Now try to rap along. You’ll fail at first. Miserably.

But slowly, you’ll nail a few words. Then a line. Then half a verse. Before long, you’ll be shadowing the whole damn song. Watch your mouth in the mirror. Study your jaw, lips, tongue. Then compare yourself to native speakers. That’s how you start sounding like one.

💬 4. Slang and Idioms You’ll Actually Use

Get a good slang and idiom book—but don’t try to memorize every single thing.

Instead, highlight expressions you’d actually use in your daily life: at work, in class, with friends. Usefulness over quantity. You’re building your personal fluency toolkit, not studying for an exam.

🤫 5. Lie to Talk. Seriously.

This one’s wild. But it works.

Lie your way into conversations.

Pretend to be a customer and call a phone company. Ask about weekend plans. Make small talk. Or fake being lost and ask for directions at a store—then keep the convo going by asking about their day or local recommendations.

It doesn’t matter how you do it. Just create opportunities to speak.

🚀 The Results? You Won’t Believe Them.

After doing all this, you’ll realize that every second you spent reading, listening, rapping, failing, and lying… it was worth it.

You won’t recognize your own English. And neither will your friends or family.

You’ll sound confident. Natural. Powerful.
You’ll stop translating and start thinking in English.
You’ll feel like you’ve levelled up—not just in language, but in life.
